After years of planning, and several months of construction, Absecon Public Schools officially opened its new Turf Field at Attales Middle School with a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Tuesday, March 24, welcoming new opportunities for all of the children of Absecon.

The turf field opening comes just ahead of the local lacrosse season and right in time for the Absecon PTO’s Brunch with the Bunny and free Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28.

Absecon Board of Education President Eric Neal and members Megan Marczyk, Chris Cottrell, Linda Wallace, Theresa Hudson and Mimi Deleener, as well as Superintendent Dr. Daniel J. Dooley, School Business Administrator Julie Velluzzi and Absecon Education Association President Sherri Liepe gathered at the field for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Now that it is open, the Attales Turf Field will be utilized by Attales Middle School sports teams and physical education classes, as well as city sports teams like lacrosse and soccer. Additional parking for the Turf Field and the adjacent natural grass practice field were constructed on school grounds in order to mitigate any potential impact to the surrounding neighborhood.
