As families navigate the realities of aging, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, and dementia, community-based wellness programs are playing an increasingly important role in helping older adults stay active, connected, and engaged.
Mosaic recently awarded a $5,000 community grant to the Marjorie and Lewis Katz Jewish Community Center to support its Parkinson’s Power class through the purchase of exercise equipment designed specifically for participants in the program. The grant is part of Mosaic’s new Community Grants initiative, which funds innovative local programs that enhance quality of life for older adults and their caregivers.
“We are proud to support programs that meet people where they are and enhance the everyday experiences of older adults and their families,” said Erin Luurtsema, Director of Philanthropy for Mosaic. “The Parkinson’s Power class is helping participants build strength, confidence, and connection in a supportive environment, and we are honored to play a role in helping that program grow.”
The Parkinson’s Power class focuses on movement, exercise, and social engagement for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. The new equipment will help expand opportunities for participants to improve mobility, maintain independence, and enjoy meaningful interaction with others.
