As the summer season comes to an end, Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) is encouraging residents and visitors with surplus non-perishable food, basic essentials and baby products to donate them to the JFS Pantry.

JFS accepts canned and boxed goods, including peanut butter, jelly, cereal, tuna, vegetables, pasta, soups and snacks. Donations can be dropped off at JFS, 607 N. Jerome Avenue in Margate, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

From January through June of this year, the JFS Pantry distributed 350,560 pounds of food and basic essentials, including more than 11,790 pounds of produce, to 8,909 people. That total includes 1,547 individuals who visited the agency pantry for the first time.

“At JFS, our food security program provides nutritious, healthy food to individuals in need in our community,” said Andrea Steinberg, JFS chief executive officer. “With people cleaning their cupboards at summer’s end and donating products to our agency, we can continue to meet the increased food demand in our region.”
