Today, diners know 101 E. Maryland Ave. in Somers Point as Pablo, an American-Mexican fusion restaurant. But decades earlier the property welcomed customers to Harry’s Inn for steaks, seafood and organ music.

Established in 1940 at Sunny and Maryland avenues, Harry’s Inn was owned by the Styer family and operated by Harry Styer. Vintage postcards advertised it as “The Place Where Nice People Meet Their Friends.”

That invitation extended year-round. Harry’s served lunch, dinner and late-night snacks, with nightly entertainment that included piano and organ music.

Banquet facilities accommodated celebrations, while newspaper notices documented meetings of local organizations, including the Rotary Club and American Business Women’s Association.

The Styers retained ownership until 1992, when the restaurant became Somers Inn, according to the Somers Point Historical Society. Its precise operating dates remain unconfirmed.

The property later housed Stumpo’s Italian Grill and Bar before becoming Clancy’s by the Bay in February 2012. Clancy’s brought a sports bar atmosphere to the address and remained until May 29, 2022.

Mexiquila followed in early 2024 after extensive renovations, introducing Mexican-inspired dining, multiple bars and an outdoor patio.

Through successive owners, renovations and menus, the property has continued serving the purpose captured in Harry’s slogan: giving people a place to meet their friends.
