On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Christopher Davis, 38, of Atlantic City, NJ was sentenced before the Honorable Donna Taylor, J.S.C. to an aggregate term of four years in New Jersey State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act, where he has to serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole. Once released, he will be subject to three years of parole supervision.
He previously pleaded guilty to second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.
On September 5, 2023, members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a shooting on Florida Ave. Police located two males who sustained gunshot wounds to their legs, D.C. and S.W. Police also located a female, N.W., and her two-year-old child, who were sitting inside a parked vehicle at the time of the shooting. A bullet struck the rear passenger side door, where the child was strapped in a car seat. Police also located several parked vehicles that were struck by gunfire. The crime scene was located in front of 30 South Florida Ave. and extended the entire unit south Block of Florida Ave. Police seized approximately 27 spent shell casings.
Police reviewed surveillance from the area, which showed that before the shooting, a vehicle, later identified as a 2022 Nissan Altima, bearing a Missouri registration, circled the unit block of S. Florida Avenue multiple times. Surveillance showed a male, D.S., was standing in front of a building located at 30 South Florida Ave. with D.C. & S.W. As D.S., D.C., and S.W. stood outside the building, the Nissan parked on Bellevue Ave., which is next to Florida Ave.
The front seat passenger exited the Nissan wearing all dark clothing and a black mask. The driver of the Nissan remained parked & waiting in the area. The passenger appeared to creep around the side of 30 South Florida Ave., raised his arm, and opened fire. Immediately after the shooting, the passenger returned to the vehicle. D.S. fired a gun multiple times down Florida Ave. As soon as the driver entered the Nissan, the driver rapidly accelerated out of the area at a high rate of speed. The driver nearly struck a father and child walking in the street, and the father pulled the child out of the way of the oncoming Nissan.
On September 11, 2023, the Nissan was located on Indiana Ave. and was occupied by the driver, Christopher Davis. Davis told police that his girlfriend rented the vehicle and he was driving it for two weeks. The vehicle was subject to a search warrant. Inside the vehicle, police seized Davis’s phone. A communications data warrant yielded location data from the phone showing that the phone was in the area of the shooting on the date and time it occurred and left the area after the shooting, consistent with the surveillance video.
This case was investigated by the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit with assistance from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit.
On January 30, 2024, Davis was found to have a shank in the Atlantic County Justice Facility while being detained for the shooting matter. He received a concurrent three-year N.J.S.P. sentence for that matter. Members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit represented the State on both matters.
