The public is invited to gather on Friday, September 11, for the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Saracini-O’Neill Atlantic City 9/11 Memorial at Jackson Avenue and the Boardwalk.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m., the annual ceremony will bring together families, residents, visitors, first responders, veterans, elected officials, and community organizations to honor those killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, as well as the service members and first responders whose lives and work continue to reflect the legacy of that day.
The ceremony will include the Atlantic City Police Department Honor Guard, Atlantic City Fire Department participation, a wreath placement by Atlantic County retired police and fire personnel, patriotic music, a bell ceremony, Taps, and a rifle volley by American Legion Post 469.
Mayor Marty Small Sr. will offer welcoming remarks. Atlantic County Public Safety Director Michael Fedorko will serve as emcee.
This year’s program will also recognize Atlantic City native Lt. Cmdr. Shane Fox, U.S. Navy (ret.), with the 2026 Hero Award. A 1999 Atlantic City High School graduate and U.S. Naval Academy alumnus, Fox retired from the Navy in 2023 following a 20-year career and now teaches technology and engineering at Old Mill High School in Maryland.
The ceremony honors local 9/11 victims, including Capt. Victor Saracini, John O’Neill, Patricia Cody, and Andrew Alameno, while recognizing the living service of law enforcement, firefighters, military personnel, and all first responders. The Saracini-O’Neill Atlantic City 9/11 Memorial also honors eight Atlantic County Armed Forces members who died during post-9/11 military service.
The event is free, open to the public, rain or shine, and the ceremony area is wheelchair accessible. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and allow time for parking.
