The Atlantic County Justice Facility has been re-accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) following a two-day, on-site inspection of the jail, located at 5060 Atlantic Avenue, Mays Landing.
The NCCHC inspection is based on the national standards for health services in jails and is conducted every three years. Accreditation requires 100 percent compliance with 39 essential standards and 85 percent compliance with 20 important standards.
The Atlantic County Justice Facility was found to be in compliance with 100% of the 37 essential standards and 19 important standards applicable for its facility.
“The comprehensive inspection is recognized nationwide and reflects a consistency in policies and procedures at our county jail,” stated county Executive Dennis Levinson. “I commend Warden Michael Kelly and his staff for their outstanding performance and dedication to protecting the safety and welfare of those incarcerated in our jail.”
The Atlantic County jail houses male and female inmates who are pretrial, presentenced, county-sentenced, and in certain instances state-sentenced and are awaiting transfer or state inmates contracted to the county facility.
