The results are in, and the running community has spoken: the Atlantic City Marathon has been officially voted the winner of the 2026 Best Marathon in New Jersey poll on FindMyMarathon.com.
This recognition comes directly from runners, with tens of thousands casting votes to highlight the races that stand out for organization, atmosphere, and overall runner experience. Being named the top marathon in New Jersey is a meaningful reflection of the work that goes into making the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series a standout event year after year.
“We’re incredibly honored to be recognized by the running community,” said Genia Sperling, Race Director of the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series. “This award reflects the energy our runners bring, the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our partners and local community. We work hard to create a race experience people truly enjoy, and it’s rewarding to see that come through in the voting.”
Owned and managed by the Marjorie & Lewis Katz Jewish Community Center of Atlantic County, the Atlantic City Marathon Race Series has been a cornerstone of the region’s running community for decades. Established in 1958, the Atlantic City Marathon is the third oldest continuing marathon in the United States and has built a legacy through its scenic, fast and flat course.
The course features eight oceanfront miles along the iconic Atlantic City Boardwalk, making it a favorite for runners seeking both speed and a memorable coastal race-day experience. The event is also a USATF-certified Boston Qualifier, an RRCA State of New Jersey Championship Event, and an Abbott World Major Age Group Championship Qualifier.
The Atlantic City Marathon Race Series includes marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K distances, offering something for runners of every level. The October race weekend has also earned national attention, including Race Raves Runners Choice honors for Best Marathon and Half Marathon in the U.S. in 2024 and 2025.
