Monday, May 25 is Memorial Day. Here are the observances taking place to honor those who gave their lives for the country.
Absecon Parade and Ceremony
- 9 a.m.
American Legion Post, 560 New Jersey Avenue to Absecon Veterans Park, New Road
Absecon Community Affairs, VFW Post 9462 and American Legion Post #28 invites the public to their annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The event will begin with a Decorated Bike Brigade at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for best decorated bikes. The public is invited to attend the ceremony afterwards at Veterans Park. Refreshments will follow at the American Legion Post.
Atlantic City Ceremony
- 12 p.m.
Brown’s Memorial Park, Kentucky and Baltic Avenues
Join Atlantic City and Councilman Kaleem Shabazz in recognizing and honoring those who gave their lives for our freedom. The program will include remarks by guest speaker Major Braun Littlefield, Retired. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held at City Hall Council Chambers, 1301 Bacharach Boulevard.
Atlantic County Veterans Memorial Program
- Friday, May 22, 2 p.m.
Richard E. Squires Veterans Cemetery, 109 Route 50 South
The public is invited to honor the sacrifice and service of its fallen military veterans in a program to be held at the Estell Manor Park. Former U.S. appellate military judge and retired New Jersey Superior Court Judge Bernard E. DeLury, Jr. of Brigantine will provide the keynote address. The program will also feature the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Color Guard, Atlantic County Corrections Officers’ Honor Guard, Sandpipers’ Pipes & Drums, the presentation of the memorial wreath and playing of Taps.
Brigantine Parade
- Sunday, May 24, 10:30 a.m.
Veterans Triangle, 15th and Brigantine Avenues
Join VFW Post 6964 for their annual Memorial Day Parade in Brigantine, featuring local community organizations and dignitaries.
Egg Harbor City Ceremony
- 11 a.m.
Lincoln Park, White Horse Pike & Buffalo Avenue
The event will feature performances by the Cedar Creek High School Marching Band, under the direction of Valerie Adams, and the Ceder Creek HS Select Choir, directed by Jim Goodrich. The public is invited to Egg Harbor City Fire Department Fire Hall following the event for refreshments and hot dogs. Hosted by the City of Egg Harbor, Rudolph Elmer Post 158 American Legion and Auxiliary and the Victor McAnney VFW Post 5341.
Egg Harbor Township Parade and Ceremony
- 9 a.m.
Zion Road to Veterans Memorial Park on Ocean Heights Avenue
Join the Egg Harbor Township Veteran’s Advisory Board for its annual Memorial Day Parade. Staging of marchers and vehicles will begin at 8:30, and the parade will commence at 9 a.m. starting at Diamond Dr., traveling west on Zion Road to North Mount Airy Avenue and continuing up Ocean Heights Avenue to Veterans Memorial Park, where a ceremony will be held afterwards. Additionally, two F-16 Fighter Jets will do a flyover in memory of our fallen.
Linwood Parade and Ceremony
- 10 a.m.
Shore Road and Laurel Avenue to All Wars Memorial Park
Hosted by the Linwood Board of Recreation. The parade will start at 10 a.m., traveling down Shore Rd. from Laural Ave. to All Wars Memorial Park.
Longport Parade and Ceremony
- 11 a.m.
33rd & Atlantic Avenues to 35th & Ventnor Avenues to Reed Park
American Legion Post 469 will host its annual parade, starting at 33rd & Atlantic, turning down 35th Avenue to Ventnor Avenue and proceeding to Thomas B. Reed Park near the Longport Bridge. This year’s military guest of honor is U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Chase Tanton. Following the ceremony, a traditional hot dog picnic will follow behind Borough Hall.

Margate Parade and Ceremony
- 10 a.m.
Ventnor Avenue from Union to Mansfield Avenue
Parade line up will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Margate City Hall, 8900 Winchester Avenue. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., proceeding to Ventnor Avenue and north along the Parkway. Following the parade, a ceremony will take place at All Wars Memorial Park. All are welcome to participate. The community is invited to gather at the Margate Log Cabin for refreshments after the ceremony. Hosted by the Margate Mothers Association.
Northfield Memorial Day Ceremony
- 9:30 a.m.
Veterans Park, 1913 Oak Avenue
The City of Northfield will host its Annual Memorial Day Ceremony. Seating is limited. Pease bring a chair if you wish to sit. For more information, contact Shannon at 609-641-2832.
Ocean City Ceremony
- 11 a.m.
Veterans Memorial Park, Wesley Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets

Saracini-O’Neil Memorial Ceremony
- Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m.
Jackson Avenue and the Boardwalk, Atlantic City
The public is invited to honor our fallen heroes at the Saracini-O’Neil 9/11 Memorial. There will be music, a cannon fire, and speeches from local leaders and dignitaries.
Somers Point Parade and Ceremony
- 11 a.m.
Dawes Avenue and Shore Rode to City Hall and Patriots Park
The parade will start at Dawes Avenue School, traveling south along Shore Road, continuing past City Hall, and up to Patriots Park. Participants will include vehicles, bands, and walkers. Ventnor Ceremony

Join Ventnor City at the flagpole for a ceremony honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
