The 2026 New Jersey Run for the Fallen will stop at the Ocean City Fishing Club pier at approximately 5:03 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, as part of a tribute to members of the U.S. military who died during the global war on terror.
The runners, all military personnel, will begin their four-day, 225-plus-mile journey in Cape May Point and travel through coastal communities. The first day is expected to conclude at 6:50 p.m. at American Legion Post 524, 4508 West Ave., at 46th Street in Ocean City.
At the fishing club pier, the team will honor DW2 Nicholas P. DiMona II and his son, SPC Nicholas P. DiMona III, both of whom died in service to their country.
Representing all branches of the military, the team will visit Hero Markers throughout Cape May County, including 31 markers at 16 locations in Ocean City. The runners stop at a Hero Marker along each mile of the route to make a presentation to waiting family members, friends and comrades.
The event’s goal is to create a memorial trail of approximately 225 miles across New Jersey.
