Mayor Jay Gillian announced Sunday that he will seek re-election in the May 12 municipal election, pledging continued steady leadership, fiscal responsibility and a clear vision for the city’s future.
“This city is built on values that do not change — family, safety, faith, and community,” Mayor Gillian said.
Mayor Gillian highlighted the city’s progress under his leadership, including responsible infrastructure investments, strengthened public safety, flood mitigation efforts, and careful financial management designed to protect taxpayers, while preserving Ocean City’s family-friendly character.
Addressing the closing of Wonderland Pier, Mayor Gillian emphasized that his personal finances have nothing to do with his public service. He credited an exceptional city team with maintaining double-A bond ratings, clean audits and some of the lowest taxes in the state, all while investing responsibly in infrastructure, public safety, flood mitigation, and essential city services.
“Using a personal loss to question the integrity of this administration — or the work we’ve done for Ocean City — is unfair to the outstanding professionals and dedicated volunteers who serve this city with integrity every day.”
Mayor Gillian asked residents for their continued trust and support as the campaign moves forward.
“I believe deeply in this community, and I know there is important work still to do,” he said.
