If a survey were ever taken about the least controversial thing in the history of Atlantic City, the rolling chair, a part of the Atlantic City landscape for more than 100 years, would have to be among the top 10. After all, how could a chair with wheels on it generate any controversy? Well, it can, and it did.

What a great event! "Where Eddie Lives" the continuing saga of 'Eddie and the Cruisers' at Gateway Playhouse in Somers Point, Sunday evening 10/13/2024! PBS was in the house filming for an upcoming movie. There was a wonderful question and answer session emceed by Carmen Marotta, with Michael Tunes Antunes (the only real musician in the movie), Billy Walton and David Patrick Wilson (Kenny the drummer). A superb set of music performed by Billy Walton, Tunes, David, Walter Sapsai Jr and special guests! Playing songs from the quadruple platinum soundtrack of Eddie and the Cruisers, "Tender Years" and "On the Dark Side", along with songs by Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, The Meters and more! The night was topped off with a showing of the cult classic movie which was filmed at Tony Marts and other local spots in and around Somers Point. The movie was released in 1983! Motorists are reminded to drive with extra caution and watch for deer at this time of the year. **Deer are more likely to suddenly run onto roadways during their mating season, known as the rut, which runs from late October through mid-December.** 🍂🦌

Increased deer activity is more likely to occur in the early morning and around sunset when visibility may be difficult. Awareness will become even more important when daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 3, causing many commutes to align with the periods when deer are most active.

I think they are making a mistake. It’s a disgrace that they don’t keep this open. It’s all about money. This will only make people with kids go else where. Ocean City will loose revenue. It’s all about big business and how much money they can make.

Will they put another amusement park there?

Another institution bites the dust. My parents took me to "Gillians" when I was growing up. I took my kids to Wonderland as they grew up. And I took my grandchildren there and was anticipating taking my 4 Great grandkids there. Hopefully the new developer will build something that will fill the void left by Wonderland's departure.

It was a great place for children. O.C. Is supposed to be family friendly resort and this was a special place for children and families. It also created a lot of jobs for the high school kids. Big mistake and sad day for OC is my personal feelings

Its no longer a Family Place.....it has become a semi Private island for the rich. Most Middle class Families cannot afford a vacation in Ocean City. One by one places that have been there for decades close their doors...... great take out food places, great Italian places, great bakeries, great seafood places etc etc etc..... all gone. Now Wonderland is gone. The place where I walked around as a kid , exploring, having fun .....is now pretty much all gone

I’ve heard the new owner wants to build an event venue for weddings and parties. I hope no one books anything there. Such a shame that OC is losing this great family place. So many memories from my childhood, my kids and my grandkids. Sad day for OC.

It's really sad that this isn't a bigger event & there is poor advertising leading up to it. I'd love to see it become something like the Smithville fall festival in the future.

My first time being a vender. I thought it went well. But no one was spending .I didn't do well. But over all I thought it was nice for the children..I hope to another one next year.

After seeing numerous neurologists, I was given the diagnosis of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. I was given medication, which helped, but my condition was rapidly deteriorating. Ultimately, I learned about the useful MS-4 protocol at vinehealthcentre.com. This treatment has helped greatly with reducing my symptoms, it was even more effective than the prescription drugs I was using. My tremors mysteriously disappeared after the first month of medication, and I was able to walk better. Within 4 months on this treatment most of my symptoms has vanished. The MS-4 protocol is a total game changer for me. I’m surprised more people with MS don’t know it. This MS-4 protocol is a breakthrough

I frequently visit Arlington National Cemetery This is a great article honoring him. I'll be sure to visit his grave next time.

It was, if memory serves, breezy, crisp and clear in Atlantic City the evening of Oct. 18, 2007. What would have normally been a sparsely populated section of midtown was instead filled with people eager to watch a local landmark be reduced to a dust-swirling pile of rubble in a matter of seconds. And at 9:37 p.m., that’s exactly what they saw as the Sands Hotel & Casino passed into memory.

COMING UP Oct 13th! Get your tickets now!
Continuing work on his PBS documentary about the filming of “Eddie and the Cruisers” in Somers Point and other locations in South Jersey, PBS producer
Steve Rogers will be making several special appearances including interviews
this month before filming question and answer sessions and interviews with
several of the luminaries from “Eddie and the Cruisers” including the only real
rock star in the movie, Michael “Tunes” Antunes. Tunes will be doing a
concert with The Billy Walton Band, Destinee Monroe, David Allen Wilson, the drummer “Kenny” in the movie and other celebrities yet to be confirmed.

Arrangements are underway to bring Marty Davidson, the original screenplay
writer and the director of “Eddie and the Cruisers, who just received multiple
legacy honors in Los Angeles and New York for the 50th anniversary of his
famous film, “The Lords of Flatbush” which launched the careers of Sylvester
Stallone and Henry Winkler.

In response to a request by the PBS producer, City Council President Janice
Johnston, Councilman Kirk Gerety, and The Somers Point Beach Concert
Committee, we have arranged for the event to take place at 5pm on Sunday
Oct. 13th at the historic Gateway Playhouse on Bay Avenue where “Eddie and
the Cruisers” once cruised!

Adding to the fun, David Allen Wilson will bring his original fancy shoes that he
wore while portraying the drummer in “ Eddie and the Cruisers” and there will
be an auction to raise funds for the Somers Point Beach Concerts.

There will be interviews in the afternoon, weather permitting, outside of the
theatre with more formal proceedings beginning at 5pm and leading into the Billy
Walton concert with Tunes and David Wilson before the actual celebrity screening
of the movie “Eddie and the Cruisers” following the concert.

There are only approximately 200 tickets available and at a cost of $40 they will
most likely sell out!

Updated information will be available on Somerspointbeachconcerts.com/facebook,

The city already announced that everything has been claimed. It’s great to see this stuff staying out of landfills and helping people! It wasn’t just mattresses according to the city’s post. Great job AC & GN!

Yup...gotta get me one of those mattresses 🙄🤣🤣

Why not donate to hurricane Helena
