Reconstruction of “Second Bridge” as it’s known throughout the community began in August 2023, with repair work at the time expected to take up to two years. That repair work consisted of rebuilding the entire bridge, replacing deteriorating timber pile bents with concrete filled steel pipes.

Lucy the Elephant was built in Margate City (then known as South Atlantic City) in 1882, and is America’s oldest, existing roadside attraction. Originally known as “Elephant Bazaar”, it was renamed Lucy in 1902. It was the first of three roadside elephant attractions, followed by Elephantine Colossus (Coney Island, NY) and Light of Asia (Cape May, NJ).
Lucy also played a pivotal role in Atlantic City’s illegal bootlegging operations during prohibition: as rum runner ships waited offshore to bring booze in, they would watch for Lucy’s eyes to shine green (the coast is clear) or red (don’t come in yet).

The old Lincoln Highway is Rt 27.
The Lincoln Highway originally in 1913 went from New York City to San Francisco. In New Jersey it follows basically what became US 1. Across Pennsylvania it follows what became US 30 but not all the way to the west coast. Go to www.lincolnhighwayassoc.org for more information. When the US 30 route was later designated that did not automatically reroute the Lincoln Highway.
U.S. Route 30 and U.S. Route 40 are the only 2 U.S. highways that run from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.

This President’s Day weekend, thousands will take to the Promenade in Sea Isle City for an annual tradition that is over 17 years in the making. The Run and Walk for Autism will bring the community together in support of children and young adults throughout the South Jersey region.

The team will arrive at Stockton’s Galloway campus on June 11, ahead of its first game in the global tournament at 9 p.m., June 16, against Tunisian squad Espérance Sportive de Tunisie. The team will continue to practice at Stockton before its second name against English Premier League standouts Chelsea FC at 2 p.m., June 20. Both games will be played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The Marjorie & Lewis Katz JCC started Black History Month with an art exhibit and reception. The evening of art, music by The Shore Jazz Project and community featured works by talented local artists, with a special focus on African American heritage and culture.
The exhibit will be on display through March 3, 2025.

At 830PM it's PLAIN RAIN in Cape May County. That makes me feel confident that most of the shore counties sees just patchy ice, or just light snow. Stay safe, remember:
- Look down while walking
- Bridges will ice before surface roads
- Turn in the direction of your slide if you lose control in the car.

The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City launched a search and rescue for 3 duck hunters Friday night, who had been stranded for nearly 12 hours.
All 3 men were safely hoisted into the MH-65E Helicopter and brought back to Air Station Atlantic City, where they were assessed for hypothermia and injuries.
