Keep Your Pets Safe in Snow & Cold Temps‼️🧊
5 tips to help keep pets safe in the cold:
●Limit outdoor time: Once the temperature drops below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, pets are at risk of developing hypothermia or frostbite. Pro tip: Keep your pets inside during extreme temperatures and make sure to keep both walks and potty breaks short.
●Prevent frostbite: Dogs and cats’ paws, ears, and tails are the most common places pets can develop frostbite. Pro tip: Many dogs, particularly those with short coats, will appreciate having a sweater or coat on. If a dog frequently lifts their paws, whines or stops during walks, it likely means their feet are cold.
●Wipe paw pads: The chemicals used to melt snow and ice off streets and sidewalks can injure or irritate the pads of pet’s feet. Always look for pet-friendly ice melt products and steer clear of anti-freeze which is toxic to pets. Pro tip: Gently wipe their feet with a damp towel once they are back inside to avoid a trip to the veterinarian. Wearing boots can also protect paws from irritating salt on the street.
●Check under vehicle hoods: Always check under the hood of a car's engine - a favorite hiding space for community cats. Pro tip: Check underneath a car, bang on the hood, and honk the horn before starting the engine to make sure a cat hasn’t taken up temporary housing there.
●Provide insulated/outdoor shelter: Use a sturdy waterproof shelter with walls and a floor. Insulate the shelter with materials like foam board, straw or hay which provide excellent warmth. Avoid blankets or towels, as they can retain moisture and freeze ensure the entrance is covered with a flap or door to block wind and keep heat inside. Regularly check the shelter to ensure it is dry and clean , and always provide access to fresh, unfrozen water.

FIRST LOOK SNOW FORECAST (FOR MONDAY)
12PM Friday
‼ Here is my best forecast right now. I'm vauge on purpose. It's too early to say who's going to see 2"-4", 6"-10", etc. That'll come Saturday.
🌡It'll be COLD this weekend. Most of it will be below freezing. So, when this storm starts, it'll stick on unsalted roads/sidewalks right away.
❓How far north does the plowable snow go? Every storm has this zone, it just so happens to cut across Ocean/Monmouth counties this time.
😉 Remember the brief snow 5-10PM this evening from I-195 on south!

More than likely, we're not going to see a tornado. However, the Storm Prediction Center won't rule it out from 6-11PM tonight in far South Jersey, and I can see why.
There's a good amount of directional wind shear. That's a change of wind direction as you go up from the surface.
However, it's December 31st. There's very little unstable air. More than likely, it'll be wet, with possibly a thunderstorm.

Many show business aficionados of a certain age know the story of how Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis became a comedy team at Paul “Skinny” D’Amato’s 500 Club in Atlantic City on July 25, 1946. They were, in every sense of the term, “an overnight success.”

The closure of Wonderland Pier has left a significant void in Ocean City’s tourism landscape. While the future of the Wonderland property remains uncertain, with discussions ongoing about a potential luxury hotel development, the city is determined to capitalize on the opportunity presented by the Sixth Street beach.

The 6th street beach is for beach goers regardless if there is a Wonderland or a hotel. It should not be turned into a zumba beach as depicted in the photo.
Unfortunately many beach community’s are multi million dollar homes now and the residents don’t want the boardwalks and the trouble they bring from the outside , the shore going forward definitely will not be like years ago ! Times change! And the trouble people bring don’t help !! Ocean city never had the troubles that they have had the last 2 summers
Playground is nice but too expensive of a piece of property for it! Someone needs to rebuild.
Three of the more unique candy stores in the area, in terms of their singular histories and back stories, are Jagielky’s in Margate and Ventnor, the Sweet Shoppe in Smithville, and Kilwin’s in Ocean City. And this is the perfect time of year to drop in for a visit for a last-minute gift, or for a personal sampling of utter deliciousness.

While Fitzpatrick’s was actually founded by a Somers Point family named Fitpatrick in the mid-1970s, it was the Hursts who have taken that one-time 25-seat, lunch-only spot on Ocean Heights Avenue and Route 9 near the current Wawa to the 180-seat, three-meal dining destination it is now on 650 Route 9.

A Statement from the Greater Atlantic City Chamber:
“After careful consideration, the Atlantic City Airshow will take a strategic pause for 2025. We will use this time to reevaluate the overall operations of the show – reevaluating community engagement, assessing costs, reviewing logistics and creatively considering what future Atlantic City Airshows could look like. It is our sincere hope that we will once again be in a position to hold an Airshow in 2026..."

A good article....I'm here year round and saw no evidence of declining visitors in the summer, on the contrary it seems busier since Sandy and Covid. My opinion is some type of amusement attraction is needed for kids and families. This hotel would signal the beginning of turning us into Ocean City Maryland. I hope citizens and council can come up with a plan, my vote is against a hotel that violates long held rules about height restrictions.
Far from abrupt.... in the end it's a business. Businesses need to make money so they can pay for upgrades and keep up with The Changing Times. It would take years for a amusement park to make any money for the owner so it wouldn't be a good business decision. You have your memories and you still have a boardwalk with other Amusements. We would all love to keep things the way they used to be but maybe it's time for a change. And if it is time for a change let's make it so it works for everyone.
This will be unpopular but here I go…. I’m excited to see a new hotel with some higher end stores and I’d love for them to get a liquor license and actually dine in OC and have a drink instead of spending money at another shore point. I know the liquor license will never happen but maybe it’s time for change.
For those struggling, the holidays can be a time that’s far from cheerful. But a group of local organizations are teaming up to host two events in Atlantic City aimed at making the holidays a little brighter for those in need.
