Two Ocean City residents face multiple drug-related charges following the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Haven Avenue, according to police.
On July 23, members of the Ocean City Police Department’s Detective Bureau and K-9 Unit, assisted by the Cape May County SWAT Team and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, executed the search warrant as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Police said officers recovered controlled dangerous substances (CDS) and drug paraphernalia allegedly associated with the distribution of narcotics.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested Umar Lewis, 31, and Tyyona White, 37, both of Ocean City. Each was charged with:
Third-degree possession of CDS with intent to distribute.
Third-degree possession of CDS with intent to distribute within a school zone.
Third-degree possession of CDS.
Fourth-degree possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute.
Lewis was processed on a warrant complaint and lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center pending a detention hearing. White was processed on a complaint summons and released pending future court proceedings.
Police said the charges were filed after a finding of probable cause in accordance with New Jersey Attorney General Criminal Justice Policies and Directives.
Under the law, all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
