Atlantic City is preparing for one of the season’s biggest events as fighter jets, stunt pilots and military aircraft take over the skies during the Soar & Shore Airshow. For three days, thousands of visitors are expected to gather along the beach, Boardwalk, rooftops and outdoor bars to watch aerial demonstrations soar above the Atlantic Ocean.

The event will run Friday, May 29, through Sunday, May 31, bringing the return of a major airshow to Atlantic City’s beachfront after years of uncertainty surrounding the future of the longtime tradition once known as Thunder Over the Boardwalk.

Throughout the weekend, aircraft will perform above the shoreline between Missouri Avenue and Albany Avenue. Spectators will be able to see much of the action from beaches and Boardwalk areas throughout the city and neighboring shore towns.

This year’s lineup includes several military demonstration teams along with civilian aerobatic performers and specialty aviation acts.

Among the featured performers are the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team, the U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II Demo Team and F-16 Fighting Falcon demonstrations.

The F-22 Raptor demonstration is expected to showcase sharp climbs, high-speed passes and advanced maneuverability. The F-35B Lightning II will highlight the aircraft’s vertical landing and short takeoff capabilities, while the F-16 demonstration team is scheduled to perform precision aerial maneuvers over the oceanfront.

Additional performances are expected to include parachute demonstrations, heritage flyovers and appearances by historic and specialty aircraft.

Organizers expect large crowds throughout the weekend as visitors gather not only on the beach, but also at casinos, rooftop lounges, restaurants and outdoor bars across Atlantic City.

Where to watch

While many spectators will set up chairs and umbrellas directly on the beach, several casino properties and outdoor venues are expected to become major gathering spots throughout the weekend.

For people hoping to avoid the heaviest crowds, beaches farther south toward Ventnor may provide additional space while still offering views of aircraft performing along the coastline.

VIP and premium viewing options

Although the airshow is free to attend from public beach and Boardwalk areas, organizers are also offering several premium viewing experiences for visitors looking for reserved seating and upgraded amenities. VIP seating areas will be located near show center in front of Bally’s Atlantic City between Michigan Avenue and Park Place.

One featured option is the Dolphin Club hospitality area, which includes reserved tented seating with tables and chairs directly on the beach. Premium packages are expected to include shaded seating, upgraded viewing access and nearby food and beverage service.

Additional premium experiences are also being offered. For more information or to purchase

Pack the sunscreen, water, chairs and umbrella. Plan leave early to avoud the heaviest traffic and best shot at that good parking spot. Officials advise to use parking garages, rideshare services or public transportation whenever possible.

As the sounds of fighter jets once again echo across the coastline, the return of a large-scale airshow is expected to bring both longtime fans and first-time visitors back to Atlantic City’s beaches and Boardwalk for a weekend centered around aviation, entertainment and the start of another busy summer season at the Shore.
