Sip A Latte, a unique mobile bar and specialty latte service, is now open for business. The company offers customized drink menus, full beverage service, and event planning expertise for corporate events, weddings, and other celebrations.
Becky Laughlin, owner and operator of Sip A Latte, a local graduate of Stockton University, gained bartending experience from part-time work during college. While she knew she wanted to open a mobile event bar service, she did not have any coffee background.
The idea to open a coffee shop was born early last year, “I always like to visit niche coffee spots whenever I travel somewhere new. And I saw a void that could be filled in my own community. I had envisioned opening a mobile bartending business, because that’s what I knew. But having a specialty shop is an experience for everyone. I chose to build out the trailer not only as a bar service but also to work as a specialty coffee service. While the trailer was being constructed, I spent my time studying the coffee brewing process and working on my own recipes and flavor combinations. I hope to open a brick-and-mortar coffee shop one day. I love that I have the freedom to come up with new ideas and show up almost anywhere to work and connect closely with the community.”
Laughlin has taken care to make sure Sip A Latte only delivers the highest quality espresso. “We get our beans from a wonderful woman-owned local business. They’re small batch roasted and they ship them to us the same week. I knew I wanted to work with this company as soon as I tried their coffee. You can just tell. It’s like nothing I’ve had before. The coffee beans are organic, fair trade/rainforest alliance certified. Purchasing beans that are fair trade certified ensures that they have responsible growing practices, and the farmers are fairly compensated. Big coffee companies can cause unnecessary pollution that can disrupt ecosystems and kill wildlife. It was so important for me during my search to find a roaster that also cared about the footprint their business would leave. Our “plastic cups” are compostable, they’re 100% plant based. As for the trailer, we try to power it when we can with our electric truck to reduce fuel emissions. We do provide a generator for private events when needed but we try to use other resources when possible.”
The Sip A Latte trailer is fully equipped with a Nuova Simonelli Appia Life 2 Group Espresso Machine which can pull over 250 shots a day, allowing for fresh lattes and specialty coffee drinks to be made at every event. The experienced bartenders and baristas can provide customized drink menus and signature cocktails for any occasion. From classic cocktails to bespoke creations, the team at Sip A Latte is dedicated to crafting unique and memorable drink experiences.
“We believe that coming together with friends and loved ones makes life special. For weekends we are booking to work weddings, birthday parties, bridal showers, etc. We can be booked entirely as a specialty espresso experience or as a mobile bar trailer. The bartending service is booked as dry hire, per state regulations. This means that we show up and take care of every detail of the beverage service for bar events, but we do not supply the alcohol,” said Becky.
