Riding the momentum of one of the NHL’s most exciting seasons and the franchise’s first Stanley Cup Playoff appearance since 2020, the Philadelphia Flyers have re-emerged as one of hockey’s most compelling success stories. At the center of that resurgence is General Manager Daniel Brière, whose leadership has helped transform the Flyers from a rebuilding team into a legitimate Eastern Conference contender and reignited excitement throughout Philadelphia and South Jersey.

The Katz JCC is proud to announce that Brière will headline this year’s Jackie & Hank Herskowitz Sports Night on Thursday, July 16, 2026, one of the region’s premier annual celebrations of sports leadership, community, and perseverance.

Brière has quickly emerged as one of the NHL’s most respected front office executives and is increasingly being discussed as a leading candidate for the NHL’s Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award. Under his leadership, the Flyers completed one of the league’s most impressive turnarounds, combining a disciplined long-term vision with immediate on-ice success.

The Flyers’ resurgence this season has been widely praised across the hockey world. Despite entering the year with many analysts believing the organization remained deep in a rebuilding phase, Brière successfully strengthened the roster while preserving the team’s future assets and prospect pipeline. Key offseason additions, including the acquisition of dynamic forward Trevor Zegras and several impactful depth players, helped establish the Flyers as one of the league’s toughest, most resilient teams.

As the Flyers continue their playoff run, Brière has earned widespread praise from national and local hockey media for skillfully balancing the team’s long-term rebuild with immediate success by strengthening the roster, preserving the organization’s prospect pipeline, strategically managing the salary cap, and re-establishing a positive and competitive culture throughout the franchise.

“We are thrilled to welcome Daniel Brière to this year’s Sports Night,” said Marg Rosenblatt, CEO of the Katz JCC. “Daniel represents the very qualities this event celebrates, leadership, resilience, vision, and community. What he has accomplished with the Flyers in such a short period of time has inspired hockey fans throughout the region, and we are excited for our community to hear directly from one of the NHL’s brightest executives.”

Sports Night Committee Chair Jeff Herskowitz said the event continues a family tradition rooted in bringing outstanding sports figures and meaningful community experiences together.

“My parents, Jackie and Hank Herskowitz, believed deeply in the power of sports to inspire people and bring communities together,” said Herskowitz. “Daniel Brière’s leadership story and the Flyers’ exciting season make him an incredible guest for this year’s event. We look forward to welcoming Flyers fans and supporters from across the region for what promises to be a truly memorable evening.”

The Jackie & Hank Herskowitz Sports Night has become a signature community event, bringing together sports fans, community leaders, and supporters for an evening celebrating athletic excellence, perseverance, and leadership.
