The Gallery at the Ocean City Arts Center is pleased to present Summer Madness: Paintings by Fanelle White, on view Aug. 3 – 28. The public is invited to a Meet the Artist Reception on Friday, Aug. 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. Admission to both the exhibition and reception is free.
Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Fanelle White was immersed in the arts from an early age. Influenced by her father, an engineer, she developed an appreciation for the balance of creativity and practicality — the philosophy that “form follows function.” She graduated from Pratt Institute in New York City and launched a successful career in industrial design, creating work that was featured in trade shows and design publications.
White later transitioned into education, earning master’s degrees in Art Education and General Education before joining the faculty at St. John’s University as an adjunct professor. During her distinguished 20-year career teaching art in New York City, she inspired generations of young artists. Known for her creativity and dedication, she helped numerous students earn scholarships, gain admission to prestigious art schools, and pursue successful careers in the arts.
Now living along the Jersey Shore, White has found fresh inspiration in her coastal surroundings. Working primarily in oil and acrylic, she captures the beauty, energy, and color of the season through a vibrant collection of paintings in Summer Madness, reflecting both her lifelong passion for artistic expression and her appreciation for life by the sea.
The Ocean City Arts Center is located on the second floor of the Ocean City Community Center, 1735 Simpson Ave., Ocean City, NJ. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Arts Center is closed on Sundays.
