Showboat Atlantic City reached another major construction milestone for its latest and most anticipated family entertainment venue the “Island waterpark.”
Shore Locals Cameras were on hand at 4:30 am as the first of 70 trucks arrived on site and crews began to pour 700 yards of concrete for the main pump room, which will house the waterpark pumps for the slides.
The 103,000-square-foot year-round indoor waterpark will feature water slides, pools and a lazy river, along with food & beverage and retail outlets, lounge areas and party rooms. A retractable glass-pane roof will cover the entire project to make it a year-round destination. Island waterpark will be the largest beachfront indoor waterpark in the world. It is being constructed on the New Jersey Avenue beach block lot next to Showboat.
The massive Island waterpark is slated to open in the summer of 2023. Groundbreaking for the project took place on January 12, 2022.
Philadelphia developer Bart Blatstein is doubling down on non-casino attractions by adding this entirely new concept of family-friendly entertainment to complement the Showboat’s massive 120,000 square feet “Lucky Snake” Arcade and Sports Bar, which opened June 2021, and the new indoor Raceway at Lucky Snake, which opened Memorial Day Weekend this year.
