At the age of 61, when many people are looking forward to settling into the comforts of retirement, Michael Lagana, known in the music industry as “Pappa L,” is boldly embarking on a new chapter of his life, one filled with soulful melodies and emotional lyrics. Born in 1962 in Atlantic City, Pappa L’s early years were shaped by a simple life spent riding waves and crafting music that would later become the soundtrack to his unique journey. Pappa L’s world took a profound turn when he encountered his soul mate, Judith, a love that defined his existence. The serenity of their lives together was abruptly disrupted when Judith succumbed to cancer, leaving Pappa L and his two sons in the wake of an emotional maelstrom. It was through this crucible of loss that Pappa L found the strength to rediscover himself, his passions, and ultimately the healing power of music.
Involved in music for the last five decades, Pappa L began playing drums as a young child. He added playing the guitar in his early college years, and fronted many cover bands in the following years, including “Kat in a Hat,” “My Back My Nuts,” “Take Two,” “Wilderness Area”, and “Drive the Bus”. Performances include many featured venues such as The Hard Rock Atlantic City, The Aria Resort/Casino in Las Vega, Mexicali Live, and the Philadelphia Fire.
