Today, the Greater Atlantic City Chamber’s Board of Directors announced the launch of a comprehensive search for a new President, following the resignation of President Michael Chait after more than seven years of leadership to the organization. To ensure continuity of operations during this transition period, the Chamber has engaged Jane Asselta to serve as a Leadership Consultant for the Chamber.

“We are deeply grateful to Michael Chait for his years of dedicated service to our Chamber and his steadfast advocacy efforts on behalf of the region’s business community,” said John Heinz, Chair of the Board. “As we navigate this transition, we’re committed to finding a dynamic leader who will build upon the strong foundation we have set in recent years. We welcome Jane’s leadership and expertise, as we guide our organization into its next chapter.”

The Board has formed a search committee to conduct a thorough executive search process. During this period, Asselta will provide consulting services to support day-to-day operations and assist with strategic initiatives.

“I’m pleased to support the Chamber during this pivotal transition period,” said Asselta. “I have dedicated my career to public advocacy, economic development and building partnerships across the Southern New Jersey region. I look forward to applying that professional experience and expertise to my new role as Consultant to help maintain the Chamber’s positive momentum, while the search for a permanent President for the organization is underway.”

Asselta brings over 20 years of experience in economic development and community affairs to the Chamber as its new Leadership Consultant. She most recently served as New Jersey State Director for USDA Rural Development, appointed by former United States President Joe Biden, leading a team of specialists that offered an array of programs and services designed to help residents and businesses in New Jersey’s rural communities increase economic opportunities and improving quality of life standards. Prior to that appointment, she served as Vice President of the Southern New Jersey Development Council (SNJDC), directing membership services, marketing, outreach activities, and legislative affairs for an organization representing over 300 businesses and organizations across eight counties in New Jersey.

The leadership transition comes as Barbara DeMarco, Vice President of Porzio Governmental Affairs, prepares to assume the role of Board Chair on June 1, 2025. A native of Hammonton and seasoned public affairs professional, DeMarco has been pivotal in reshaping the Chamber’s focus on advocacy and outreach efforts in that sector.

“We are excited about the energy and vision Barbara will bring as our new Chair. Together with our dedicated staff and board, we’re confident this transition will position us for even greater success in serving our business community,” added Heinz.
