Five fiendishly fun ways to celebrate Halloween this weekend

By Danielle Davies

Before we start gathering around in gratitude, it’s the last official weekend for the thrills and chills of Halloween, and there are some truly festive frights we highly encourage. Grab your ghoulish garb and get going — here are five fiendishly fun ways to celebrate Halloween this weekend.

1. Glowball Golf at Harbor Pines

Don your favorite costume and head to Harbor Pines Golf Club for a Glowball Golf Outing of epic proportions at 4 p.m. Friday. For just $75, guests can indulge in a buffet dinner followed by a shotgun start to a positively “glowing” golf experience. Bring your favorite four clubs — all glow materials are included — and plan on an epic night with a post-golf dance party with live music by Mel & Tony. Harbor Pines Golf Club is located at 500 St. Andrews Dr., Egg Harbor Township. See HarborPines.com.

2. Haunted Tours and Paranormal Investigation at Absecon Lighthouse

For the full-fright lovers, head to Absecon Lighthouse on Saturday, Oct. 28 to hear the true ghost stories that prompted a visit from SyFy’s “Ghost Hunters”. Enjoy a Haunted Walking Tour — available 6 and 7 p.m. — for $25, or a 2.5-hour paranormal investigation with NJ Researchers of Paranormal Evidence complete with ghost tracking equipment from 8 to 10:30 p.m. for $50. Absecon Lighthouse is located at 31 S. Rhode Island Ave., Atlantic City. Visit AbseconLighthouse.org for more information.

3. Flash Mobs and Costume Contests

Looking for a scary good time? Head to Resorts for loads of haunted Halloween fun including a Halloween flash mob at 6 p.m. on Saturday followed by a Halloween Costume Contest hosted by DJ Clinton with $1,000 in prizes at 8 p.m. While you’re there, be sure to swing by the Boo Bar for music from Geri Mingori and DJ Clinton and inventive Halloween concoctions. Resorts is located at 1133 Boardwalk. See ResortsAC.com.

4. Spooktacular Movies

There’s a reason that there is an entire movie franchise named for this spooky holiday — scary movies and Halloween go together like peanut butter and jelly. And this week before Halloween, there is no shortage of hyper-creepy films showing at Tilton Square Theatre. Head there for viewings of “The Nun II,” “Saw X,” and “The Exorcist: Believer” — just don’t choke on your popcorn during the jump scares. Tilton Square Theatre is located at 331 Tilton RdNorthfield. See SquareTheatres.com.

5. Halloween Costume Party

Want to hang where everyone knows your name? Head to Charlie’s Bar in Somers Point for your fall faves — beer and wings — as well as a costume party from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Saturday. As far as Halloween parties go, this one can’t be beat. Charlie’s Bar is located at 800 Shore Rd., Somers Point. See CharliesBar.com.
