Enlightened Café Open Mic Night Fridays from 7-10pm, 6414 Ventnor Ave.  Ventnor. Open Mic, Open Stage – to all musicians looking to spread good vibes through music and community. Jam with others, or go solo. Every Friday night from 7-close.

Beef & Beer Extravaganza Friday, May 11th from 6-9:30pm, Trinity Masonic Lodge  563 Zion Rd. Egg Harbor Township. Hosted by the Children’s Dyslexia Centers of NJ – Northfield. Gift basket raffles, 50/50 and live entertainment. Doors open at 6:00pm. $20 for adults, $10 for kids.

Spring Fling Outdoor Craft & Vendor Fair Lifegate Church will be hosting its Spring Fling Outdoor Craft & Vendor Fair on Saturday, May 12th from 9am-2pm at 296 Bethel Road in Somers Point. Come shop for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or Graduation. Prom accessories, baby and wedding shower gifts and much more.

Ventnor City Block Party Saturday, May 12th from 10am-5pm, Ventnor Avenue from Troy to Portland Avenues. Ventnor Business Association is very excited to announce Ventnor City’s First Annual Spring Block Party. This fun filled day will include kid activities, great music, delicious food, crafters, local businesses and much more. Parking will be available at the Ventnor Educational Community Complex on Lafayette Avenue, and a free Jitney will transport all party attendees back and forth from 10-5.  events@vbanj.com for additional information. Smithville Children’s Festival Saturday, May 12th from 10am-4pm, Historic Smithville  615 E Moss Mill Rd. Get ready for a fun family filled day with Historic Smithville’s annual Children’s Festival. This year it will be bigger and better! Popcorn, face-painting, animals, and games are just some of the events to look forward to. The Children’s Festival has no entrance fee and parking is free. Scrapbooking in the Pines Saturday, May 12th Atlantic County 4H Fairgrounds  3210 Route 50, Mays Landing. Enjoy a full day of Scrapbooking sponsored by the Atlantic County Tae Kwon Do Club.
The day will include Breakfast Pastries, Lunch, Dinner & Dessert. Snacks & Beverages will be available all day. Each guest will share an 8’ table with another scrapper and each will receive an attendance gift. $40/person. Make checks out to Atlantic Co. 4-H.

Door Prizes, Tool Station, Classes (for an additional fee) & Vendors will also be available.

Mothers Day All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast Sunday, May 13th from 8-11am Egg Harbor Township Elks  1815 Mays Landing-Somers Point Rd. $8 for adults, $4 for kids 10 and under. Breakfast features plain or strawberry pancakes, sausage, bacon, orange juice and coffee. Special surprises and giveaways. Proceeds will benefit the Egg Harbor Township Elks new roof fund.

The MonArc Celebration Thursday, May 17th. The Grand Ballroom at Golden Nugget Hotel Casino Atlantic City. The Arc of Atlantic County is proud to announce the return of their annual fundraiser, the MonArc Celebration. This event will feature chef-inspired menu items from Golden Nugget restaurants. Guests will have the opportunity to sample a selection of wine and craft beer and bid on fantastic auction items. Proceeds from this event will benefit The Arc of Atlantic County, servicing people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Atlantic County. Patcong Creek Cleanup & Picnic Sunday, May 20th from 9:30am-1:30pm. Join us for our 13th Annual Patcong Creek Clean Up. Bring your own canoe or kayak or use one courtesy of Paddle Shack. Shirley Mae Run & Michael J. Walk Saturday, May 12th at 9am, Boardwalk & Tropicana Casino, Atlantic City. The Shirley Mae Breast Cancer Assistance Fund is pleased to present the 16th Annual Shirley Mae Run & Michael J. Walk featuring a 5K Run, a 1.5 Mile Walk plus a Kids’ Fun Run on Saturday, May 12, 2018. All events will be held on the fabulous Atlantic City Boardwalk in front of the Tropicana Casino & Resort. Join us for a fun-filled morning featuring our inspirational Celebration of Survivors and more. Complimentary refreshments will be available during the event. Run/Walk for the Animals 5K Saturday, May 19th at 9am, Laguna Bar  1400 Ocean Ave. Brigantine. Mother’s Day Music Festival Saturday, May 12th at 7pm Boardwalk Hall, Tickets start at $55. The Mother’s Day Music Festival is returning to Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, May 12th at 7pm for its 10th annual concert. This year concert features two iconic artists, Maxwell and Gladys Knight. This will mark the first time that they will be performing together on the Mother’s Day Music Festival. This concert will also feature one of the up and coming stars of the music industry, Vivian Green.

 

Community Events

EHT Book Sale Now – May 31st, 1 Swift Dr.Atlantic County Library’s Egg Harbor Township branch will hold a book sale during regular branch hours. Browse our wide selection early and often to find the hidden gems. The sale will run all month, and will be replenished regularly. All proceeds benefit the Atlantic County Library Foundation’s support of branch programming.

 

Classes in Art

The Ventnor Cultural Arts Center is holding Classes in Art year-round. Workshops range in pottery, watercolor, oil & acrylics, pottery, pastels, jewelry making and mosaic. Classes are $20 each. Culinary Club: Second Helpings

This free club is suggested for ages 10-16, and phone registration is requested. Please advise library staff of any food allergies prior to registration. Learn how to make a refreshing spring treat in the remaining session. The meeting will cover basic cooking skills, and may require use of small knives. All club members will be responsible for cleanup. Please bring an apron. For the month of May, it’s make your own ice cream.
