Calling all groms; Rip Curl is coming to the beach this weekend for one of the most anticipated surfing events of the summer. Surfers under the age of 16 are invited to bring their best surfing skills and experience for this one-of-a-kind event. The top competitors will earn their place in the National Final, where the best of the best will compete for the 2026 title. Registration is open at www.ripcurl.com.

Longport Hammer Row

As the end of the summer season approaches, Longport Beach Patrol hosts its annual Hammer Row. South Jersey beach patrols will participate in a multi-mile course spanning the back bays near Longport Bridge. Events will include the Doubles Row and Stand-Up Paddleboard race.

Thrilling Thursday Movies on the Beach

Huntington Avenue Beach, Margate

Grab your beach chairs and blankets and watch ‘Wicked: For Good’ on screen this Thursday, August 20. Dress up as your favorite Wicked movie character and enjoy food from Tacocat. Plus, mark your calendars for the final Thrilling Thursday movie of the season next Thursday, August 27, with a screening of ‘Despicable Me 4’.

Josh Bassett Presents Jersey Magick

Gateway by the Bay, 738 Bay Avenue, Somers Point

Rock artist Josh Bassett is a Somers Point native based in Los Angeles and Italy. The South Jersey musician will shine a light on his original music and the musicians that shaped his career. VCBP Goudy Lifeguard Races

Suffolk Avenue Beach

The last major lifeguard race of the season will be held this Friday. The John T. Goudy Memorial Rescue Races welcome regional beach patrols in a skills-based lifesaving event. The competition will include the Doubles Surfboat Rescue, Individual Swim Rescue, Combination Rescue, and Individual Surfboat Rescue.

Legacy Concerts on the Beach in Somers Point

William Morrow Beach, 800 Bay Avenue

Pack your beach chairs and blankets and head to the beach in Somers Point for an evening of local music featuring the Billy Walton Band along with the Plaid Salmon Horns. The concert is hosted by Tony Mart Presents.

Saturday, August 22

Brigantine Farmers Market

Brigantine Community School, Sheridan Boulevard

Stop by the Brigantine Farmers Market on Saturdays for fresh produce, homemade food, specialty items, fresh-cut flowers, and appearances from local businesses and vendors. The market is open on Saturdays through Labor Day weekend.

Somers Point Farmers Market

Somers Mansion, 1000 Shore Road

Dozens of local food vendors will set up along the grounds of the Mansion, along with crafters, and locally-owned businesses. The market is open Saturdays throughout the summer.

The South Jersey Players invite children ages 6-11 years old to their upcoming theater and arts camp. Heritage Surf & Sport is teaming up with Rip Curl for the New Jersey premier of the latest surf film entitled ‘Sketchy’, starring world champion surfer Molly Picklum. The premiere will take place inside the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall, located inside the library at the 17th Street entrance. The event is free and open to all ages. Duck Derby

The annual Margate Duck Derby is back, and it’s a floating quack-a-palooza. Weights and numbered rubber ducks are dumped into the bay, in a closed course, and with a little help from the current ducks are funneled towards the finish line. Activities will begin at 11 a.m. along Washington Street Pier along with children’s activities, musical entertainment, and more. Prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers. It’s your last chance to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation with a patriotic drone show over the beach and boardwalk. Hundreds of drones will light up the night sky, creating animations that salute America. The 15-minute show will be held after dusk.

The public is invited to attend this annual event that honors individuals who have overcome their battle with addiction while offering support, spreading awareness, and remembering those that we’ve lost.
