On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Shamir James, 34, from Egg Harbor Township, NJ, was sentenced to a term of 15 years in New Jersey State Prison on the counts of first-degree Distribution of Cocaine; first-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine (two counts); first-degree Maintaining a Narcotics Production Facility; and second-degree Financial Facilitation of Criminal Activity, by the Honorable Donna M. Taylor, J.S.C.
The charges stem from a cooperative narcotics investigation conducted by members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.). On June 29, 2026, multiple police agencies, including the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, the F.B.I., the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, the Hamilton Township Police Department, and the Northfield Police Department participated in the execution of search warrants on the defendant’s residence at 53 Lacosta Drive, Egg Harbor Township, an off-site storage facility, and the defendant’s vehicles.
In total, police seized over 151 ounces of cocaine and over $187,000.00 in cash and account holdings. In a recorded statement to police, the defendant admitted to using the kitchen of the Egg Harbor Township residence to prepare, package and process cocaine for distribution. The defendant also admitted to using the storage unit to store packaged cocaine for distribution at the street level.
The defendant has been detained in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since his arrest.
