Daniel Brestle Joins HERO Campaign Foundation Board

Daniel J. Brestle of Longport, NJ has been appointed to the John R. Elliott Foundation Board of Trustees. Brestle is the retired vice chairman and president of Estée Lauder Companies, Inc. and is a retired United States Air Force Captain.
The 15-member foundation board oversees the governance of the John R. Elliott HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers and its mission to prevent drunk and impaired driving.
“We are pleased and honored to have Dan join our board,” stated Bill Elliott, chairman of the John Elliott board. “We are looking forward to benefiting from his wealth of marketing and branding experience.”
Brestle was a three-sport graduate of Holy Spirit High School and earned a degree in applied economics from Villanova University. He served as a first lieutenant and transportation officer during the Vietnam War at Bien Hoa Air Force Base and was later promoted to Base Transportation Officer at Homestead AFB in Florida.
Brestle served in various marketing, distribution, and leadership positions with Estée Lauder over a 30-year career, including his responsibility for the Prescriptives, Clinique and Estée Lauder brands.
Prior to Estée Lauder, he held various positions of increasing responsibility in distribution, manufacturing and operations at Johnson & Johnson and served on the board of directors of Abercrombie & Fitch from 2005 to 2007, and more recently on the Board of DIN operators of Applebee’s and IHOP restaurants.
Since 2009, Brestle has served as a senior advisor to GF Capital Management & Advisors, LLC, a private equity and real estate investment company.
The HERO Campaign promotes the use of designated drivers in memory of Navy Ensign John Elliott, who was killed in a July 2000 collision with a drunken driver two months after graduating from the United States Naval Academy, where he was named the Outstanding HERO of his graduating class.
The campaign partners with schools and colleges, law enforcement, bar and tavern owners, and NFL and MLB teams, and has registered over 100,000 designated drivers in New Jersey and several surrounding states. More than 25 police departments have adopted the campaign with HERO Patrol cars wrapped with the HERO Campaign message: Be a HERO. Be a Designated Driver.
