Beacon Animal Rescue, the nonprofit, volunteer-based, animal rescue serving Cape May, Atlantic and Cumberland counties, was recently presented with a generous check from PINTS 4 PETS, an organization that was specifically founded to raise funds for South Jersey animal rescues, at its 12th-annual Oktoberfest. This is the third year that Beacon has been a granted an award from Pints 4 Pets.

Former Miss New Jersey Amy Osborn, who grew up in Ocean City, founded PINTS 4 PETS, based in Cherry Hill, in 2014. Its annual event was originally held at local breweries with the purpose of bringing beer enthusiasts and animal lovers together to raise money for local animal shelters. The event has grown exponentially and this year the PINTS 4 PETS Oktoberfest networking event was held at Medford Village Country Club, where Beacon was announced as one of 13 recipients of the organization’s 2025 giving. Animal champion, Commissioner Jeffrey L. Nash of Camden County, was in attendance to announce their Annual Humane-itarian Award Winner for 2025, Subaru of America, for their outstanding support of animal causes.

“We are so grateful to PINTS 4 PETS for selecting Beacon Animal Rescue as one of its honorees again,” said Ryan Parker, executive director of Beacon. “We know full well that there are many worthy rescues in South Jersey, so this award is especially meaningful.”

PINTS 4 PETS is an all-volunteer South Jersey charity with a goal to improve the lives of shelter animals in South Jersey, where most of their sponsors and supporters reside. The group believes that it is important for supporters to know exactly how and where their donation dollars are making a positive impact on the lives of homeless animals.

Osborn, who is CEO of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial and Museum, personally vets each rescue each year to ensure that donation recipients meet the vetting requirements that the PINTS 4 PETS board of director has established. The other rescues honored last month were: People for Animals, Inc. (Cumberland County), The Hissy Hut (Burlington County), Salem County Humane Society, Monkey’s House Hospice (Burlington County), AHS-South (Cumberland County), Cross’d Paws Sanctuary (Atlantic), Cape Atlantic Cats (Cape May County), New Pawsibilities Cat Rescue (Burlington County), Tales Up, Paws Down (Salem County), Voorhees Animal Orphanage (Camden County), PAWS (Philadelphia), and Layla’s Rescue Ranch (Salem County). More than $25,000 was handed out this year in cash donations; PINTS 4 PETS has also paid veterinary bills for families in-need, adoption fees, purchased heated cat houses for feral cat colonies around South Jersey, and bought food for shelters in need, among other things.
