Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr. was joined on Monday, June 8 by city officials, project contractors, and representatives from the Atlantic City Dolphins youth organization to officially break ground on a $1.33 million renovation project at Dolphin Field. Funded through New Jersey’s Green Acres Program, the project will transform the popular sports facility with a series of significant upgrades. Improvements will include the installation of new gray artificial turf, concession stand and locker room renovations, new fencing, upgraded lighting, new goal posts, new storage sheds, landscaping enhancements, and ADA accessibility improvements, including new sidewalks.
“As part of the Small Administration’s ongoing commitment to the youth of Atlantic City, we will continue providing the tools, opportunities and facilities they need to succeed,” said Mayor Small. “We appreciate everything the Dolphins organization does for our young football players and cheerleaders. These improvements will benefit its participants for many years to come, while giving our youth a field they can truly be proud of.”

Dolphin Field has long served as the home of the Atlantic City Dolphins, a respected community organization that has positively impacted countless young athletes over the years. The facility’s current artificial playing surface was installed in 2010 and, after years of heavy use, is due for replacement. Previous investments in the field through a generous contribution from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, including the scoreboard, will remain in place. Maruti Construction is serving as the site contractor, while Keystone Sports Construction will oversee installation of the new turf. Environmental Resolutions, Inc. is the project’s design engineer under the guidance of the City of Atlantic City Engineering Office.
City officials are targeting completion of the project in time for the upcoming fall football season. Last year, the city completed a transformative $5.6 million renovation of Pop Lloyd Stadium, reopening the facility as a multipurpose sports hub. Mayor Small also announced that the city’s next major athletic facility investment will be the renovation of Pete Pallitto Field, which is currently planned for 2027.
