Students at Hess Educational Complex recently took part in the school’s second annual Adapted Field Day, a special event designed to ensure every student has the opportunity to participate in fun, engaging and accessible activities.
Organized by teachers Mrs. Andros and Mrs. Dooner, the event celebrated inclusion, teamwork and achievement while creating an environment where students of all abilities could experience success.
The adapted field day featured a variety of thoughtfully designed activity stations, collaborative games and sensory-friendly experiences tailored to meet the needs of participating students. The event was open to students who may find traditional field day activities challenging, providing them with opportunities to build confidence, develop skills and create lasting memories alongside their peers.

School officials said the event reflects the importance of creating opportunities where all students can participate, play and thrive together, regardless of their individual abilities.
One of the highlights of the day came during a spirited game of “Duck Hunt” tag, when Principal Mr. Cartwright made a special guest appearance dressed as a duck, bringing smiles and excitement to students throughout the event.
The annual Adapted Field Day continues to grow as a meaningful tradition at Hess School, reinforcing the school’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels welcomed, supported and celebrated.
