Before the housing boom, Egg Harbor Township was a large farming community. Pictured is one of the farms on Steelmanville Road, which was owned and operated by Thomas Dix since the 1940s and continued for many years. The photo shows Tom inspecting his large lettuce crop which was trucked to many wholesale and retail businesses.
