On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, Carlos Medina-Morales, 25, from Philadelphia, PA, was sentenced to four years New Jersey State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act. In June, the defendant pled guilty to second-degree aggravated assault in connection to a July 28, 2024, shooting in Atlantic City. Medina-Morales will be supervised on parole for three years following his release from prison.
On July 28, 2024, Atlantic City Police Officers responded to the Cinco de Mayo bar and restaurant located on Atlantic Avenue for reports of a male shot. The evidence recovered throughout the investigation revealed that in the early morning hours, Medina-Morales was denied entry into the bar. Prior to leaving the area, he threatened and argued with the staff. Medina-Morales then left in a vehicle, firing rounds towards the establishment as the vehicle drove off. One of the rounds struck a bystander standing on the corner.
This case was investigated by the Atlantic City Police Department.
