Resorts Casino Hotel will welcome the dark comedy and Broadway smash hit musical, Little Shop of Horrors, to their Screening Room this Oct. 10, 17 and 24 at 8 p.m.

Arriving just in time for the Halloween Season, Little Shop of Horrors is a cult classic stage show and worldwide musical phenomenon about a meek and timid florist, his bubbly love interest, and a fierce and demanding plant with an unusual appetite for human blood.

The Broadway hit is being presented by the non-profit Atlantic City Theatre Company, whose mission is to “produce high-quality theatre performance and education that helps revitalize our community by encouraging creative professionals to live, work, and grow here.”

“We are excited to bring Little Shop of Horrors to Resorts while also supporting arts in the local community,” said the Resorts Casino Hotel President and CEO Mark Giannantonio.

Little Shop of Horrors takes place in The Screening Room, at Resorts, an intimate, historic and ideal setting for this stage show. As the Little Shop of Horrors unfolds, we meet down-on-his-luck Skid row Florist Seymour Krelborn, who stumbles onto a rare and interesting plant with a fierce appetite for human blood.  He chooses to name the plant Audrey II, an ode to his coworker and unrequited love Audrey. After adapting to “Twoie’s” unusual feeding habits, Seymour finds himself at the height of all his dreams.  However, the wake of the “mysterious disappearances” of certain people leads to the realization that everything Seymour’s gained has a price.

“This is the kind of show we’ve been hoping to bring to Atlantic City for a while,” said Producing Artistic Director Jeremy Rotolo. “We’re very excited about the cast of local professionals we’re putting together! Hopefully this is the first step of an exciting partnership in Resorts’ Screening Room.”

Directed by seasoned theater actor, singer and director Patricia Durante, and starring South Jersey native Thomas Smith as Seymour and recently crowned Miss Atlantic City Janeena Piñero as Audrey, Little Shop of Horrors will have you dancing in your seat while laughing and cringing with horror at the same time. Get ready for standout songs like “Somewhere that’s Green”, “Feed Me!”, and “Suddenly Seymour.”

Music is by Alan Menken and the script is by Howard Ashman. The full cast will be announced in the near future.

Little Shop of Horrors is sponsored by Atlantic Medical Imaging; the Atlantic City Community Fund; the Atlantic County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs; the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority; Midtown Community Development Corporation; OceanFirst Bank; The Schultz-Hill Foundation; and the Thrive AC Fund.
