On Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Atlantic City Police Department and Atlantic City Fire Department held a joint promotional ceremony at the All Wars Memorial Building, recognizing 29 individuals who advanced to new ranks within their respective departments.
The ceremony brought together family, friends, department members, and city officials to celebrate the achievements and continued service of those being promoted. Mayor Marty Small Sr. administered the Oath of Office to the newly promoted members.
The ceremony included remarks from the ACFD Chief Scott Evans, ACPD Chief James Sarkos, and Public Safety Director Sean Riggin, recognizing the accomplishments of the newly promoted members and the important role they play in serving the Atlantic City community.
The Atlantic City Police Department promoted two individuals to Deputy Chief, two to Captain, eight to Lieutenant, eight to Sergeant, and three to Police Officer. Those promoted include Alexus Zeilinger and Daniel Corcoran to Deputy Chief; Charles Stuart and Frank Timek to Captain; John Sharkey, Gary Holmes, Valmir Loga, Brian Shapiro, Owen Ingenito, Christopher LoDico, Joseph Rauch, and Robert
Dessicino to Lieutenant; Michael Gunnser, Kevin Perez, Danish Mohammad, Mark Flanigan, Eric Oneill-Knuttel, James Eckert, Ivaylo Ivanov, and Wahab Malik to Sergeant; and Nicolas Calambas, Xavier Hernandez, and Shivanshu Khanna to Police Officer.
The Atlantic City Fire Department promoted one individual to Deputy Chief, two to Battalion Chief, and three to Fire Captain. Those promoted include Jeffrey Bird to Deputy Chief; Brian Adams and Sean Flynn to Battalion Chief; and Charles Reale, Jeffrey Schlundt, and Ronald Laielli to Fire Captain.
