Six Atlantic City youth experienced the thrill of the world’s biggest sporting event Monday night thanks to a special opportunity made possible by New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill. Mayor Marty Small, Sr. and representatives from the City of Atlantic City Recreation Division held a send-off ceremony Monday afternoon before the students departed for MetLife Stadium to attend the World Cup match between Norway and Senegal.

The Atlantic City Board of Education assisted the Recreation Division in selecting the students, all of whom share a strong passion for soccer. Two Atlantic City Recreation Division staff members are accompanying the group as chaperones for the trip. The students were greeted by city officials and family members at Sovereign Avenue School before boarding a bus for the stadium. Cedar Food Markets generously donated food and refreshments for the group to enjoy during their trip.
