The Atlantic City City Council, in partnership with the Atlantic City Police Department (ACPD), is proud to recognize AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for its exceptional trauma care and unwavering support of the men and women of law enforcement.
During the Council meeting on Wednesday, June 17, city officials will present a formal proclamation to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus, commending its trauma team for helping save the life of an Atlantic City police officer who was critically injured in a shooting on June 2. The officer received advanced, timely care at AtlantiCare’s state-designated Level II Trauma Center, which serves as the region’s primary resource for the most critically injured patients in southeastern New Jersey.
“AtlantiCare’s trauma team treated our injured officer as if he were family,” said Chief James Sarkos of the Atlantic City Police Department. “Their expertise, speed, and compassion on June 2 quite literally made the difference between life and death, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to our officers and our community.”
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Atlantic City Campus is a 24/7 emergency department and state-designated Level II Trauma Center, staffed around the clock by trauma surgeons, specialty nurses, and other critical care professionals. Over more than three decades of trauma service, AtlantiCare’s team has cared for thousands of severely injured patients, advancing trauma care for residents and visitors throughout the region.
The recognition will be entered into the official record of the Atlantic City City Council and presented to AtlantiCare leadership and members of the trauma team during the June 17 Council session.
