The Emergency Responder 5-Kilometer Race will be held on Saturday, June 13, and registration remains open. Formerly known as the “Cop Chase,” the event now honors all first responders and is staged from the Ocean City Civic Center (Sixth Street and Boardwalk) with race-day registration opening at 7 a.m. and the race beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The event also includes a 1-mile fun run/walk and kids’ events, including 50- and 100-meter dashes and a 400-meter obstacle course. The 5-kilometer and 1-mile events start on the Boardwalk and finish on the track at Carey Stadium. Kids’ events will be on the field. All are invited to the annual Ocean City Health and Wellness Expo 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the Ocean City Music Pier. The free event will include fitness classes, blood-pressure screenings, vendors and a kids’ corner.
The OCNJ Healthy Living Advisory Council is the host of the Expo. All are invited to this free event in a town that features the beach, boardwalk and a wide variety of other indoor and outdoor health and recreational facilities. Come explore health food and wellness product vendors, various yoga and fitness demonstrations.

- 12 Noon – Functional Mobility Stretch (free class)
- 12:45 p.m. – Laughter Yoga (free class)
- 1:30 p.m. – Hula Hoop (free class)

Miss New Jersey Parade set for Wednesday, June 17
After several years in different locations, the Miss New Jersey competition will return to the Ocean City Music Pier from June 18 to June 20. The Music Pier also will be host to the Miss New Jersey’s Teen Competition on June 20.
The traditional Miss New Jersey parade on the Ocean City Boardwalk at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17 will give everybody a first glimpse at all the contestants in both events. The parade – from Sixth Street to 14th Street – is free to watch and also will include a variety of musical entries, floats and groups.
