What has become a rite of spring in the downbeach communities, the 18th annual Le Tour de Downbeach, is back Saturday, June 6 (rain date June 7) at 10:30 a.m. for a fun, family ride throughout Absecon Island. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the start of the ride takes place alongside the Ventnor Library on Newport Avenue. The outing is a great chance to appreciate the beauty and serenity of our seaside communities and cruise with friends. Riders can warm up and stretch with Jackie Fox of Fox Fitness 4 You at the registration area.
The picturesque, oceanside 10-mile bicycle tour begins each year in Ventnor and travels into Atlantic City along the historic boardwalk (turnaround and hydration break at Florida Ave. near Boardwalk Hall), returns through Ventnor, Margate and Longport and ends at Tomatoes restaurant on Amherst Avenue in Margate. Most importantly, a donation will be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of one of Le Tour’s original founders, Ann Marie Weisen. The first 200 riders receive a Le Tour de Downbeach commemorative t-shirt, and the outing concludes with a delicious barbeque at Tomatoe’s with free water ice provided by Margate Dairy Bar and Burger. Other sponsors and partners include Luciano Lamberti’s Restaurant and Sunset Marina, AAAA Bike Shop, Casel’s Marketplace, USA DJ, Atlantic County Toys for Kids, Ventnor Veterinary Office, Ula Facial Boutique, Rene Kane Realtor, Fit 4 Mom and Island Dental.

Pre-registration cost is $30 per rider or $25 per for a group of 4 or more riders. Day of registration is $35 or $30 pre rider for 4 or more. The Margate Business Association and Ventnor Business Association collaborate for the annual event which began as the Tour De Ventnor in 2008.
