The legendary Brigantine Castle was a massive five-story haunted attraction on the oceanfront at 14th Street and Brigantine Avenue in Brigantine, New Jersey. Opening Memorial Day weekend in 1976, it was a product of local South Jersey entrepreneur Carmen J. Ricci. The castle cost approximately $350,000 to build and took just 150 days to construct.
The medieval-style citadel drew over a million visitors annually until structural damage, safety concerns, and storm damage led to its closure in 1984.
The attraction put the quiet town of Brigantine on the map as a premier Jersey Shore destination. The castle and pier have since vanished without a trace.
