Lamekia Berry, a Lab Analyst in Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) water testing laboratory, has been recognized with the Young Professionals Award from the New Jersey Water Environment Association (NJWEA).

In her role as Lab Analyst, Berry is part of the team that provides critical water testing, ensuring ACUA’s treatment plant meets environmental quality standards. The facility, located in Atlantic City, is responsible for treating wastewater from 14 Atlantic County municipalities before it reenters the environment, allowing safe fishing, swimming, and recreational activities in the area.

This recognition highlights Berry’s individual accomplishments and the growing focus on workforce development in the water sector. She plays an instrumental role in organizing programming as part of the NJWEA Young Professionals Committee, helping to encourage students to pursue careers in wastewater industry.

Berry is a Stockton University graduate and continues to grow her career through professional development opportunities supported by the ACUA. She has turned an early love of science into a meaningful career that serves the community and protects public health.
