The Absecon Cultural Arts Alliance is reminding residents and artists that there is still time to participate in two upcoming community art events — the annual Garden Party planter competition and the new themed exhibit, “Interiors,” at the Galloway Library.

The Garden Party will take place Wednesday, June 10, at 6 p.m. at the historic Jonathan Pitney House. Participants can purchase decorative planting pots for $40, which also includes admission to the event.

Purchased pots may be picked up at Absecon Blooms. Participants are encouraged to transform their pots into creative works of art before returning them fully completed and planted to the Jonathan Pitney House on June 9, the day before the event. Drop-off times will be announced.

Organizers say the competition has become a highly anticipated annual tradition, with limited pots available and strong community participation expected once again this year.

In addition, the alliance is now accepting submissions for its upcoming “Interiors” exhibit at the Galloway Library.

The exhibit invites artists to explore the concept of interior spaces — both physical and emotional — through two-dimensional, wall-hangable artwork. Artists may interpret the theme through residential rooms, storefronts, studios, imagined environments, or abstract interior spaces. Organizers say the exhibit aims to showcase how atmosphere, light, composition, and objects shape human experiences and memories.

Accepted mediums include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking and mixed media. Artwork will remain on display for approximately two months.

Artwork drop-off is scheduled for May 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Galloway Library. All submissions must be properly framed, wired, and ready to hang using at least six inches of hanging wire to accommodate the library’s cleat hanging system.

Entry fees are $10 per piece, with a limit of three submissions per artist. Space is limited, and oversized or excessively heavy pieces may be declined due to gallery constraints.

An independent juror will evaluate submissions, with first-, second-, and third-place awards to be announced on social media following judging. Prize amounts will depend on participation levels.

Artists of all experience levels are encouraged to participate. Online registration is available through Absecon Cultural Arts Alliance.

Volunteers are also welcome to assist with receiving and hanging artwork for the exhibit.
