On Feb. 25, Mayor Jay Gillian submitted the required nominating petitions and other documents to the Office of the City Clerk for his re-election as Mayor in the May 12th Municipal Election.
Mayor Gillian had earlier announced his intention to seek another term and has spent the past several weeks assembling his campaign team of supporters and obtaining voter’s signatures on the nomination petitions.
Mayor Gillian commented: “The reaction of the community since my announcement a few weeks ago has been extremely gratifying. I have received more calls, e-mails, text messages and other shows of support, than I ever have before during my many years of public service. I chose to run under the campaign slogan “Unity in the Community”, just as I did during my first term. That’s more than a slogan to me , it’s a promise. It’s a promise I’ve kept, and a commitment to continue to work together with all of our stakeholders and team members as we continue to move this community forward.”
The Mayor plans to be out in the community, as usual, during the coming campaign to further discuss his plans, priorities and vision for the future of Ocean City.
