Egg Harbor Township High School invites the community to step into the magic, music and timeless message of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” This beloved holiday tale, adapted for the stage by Romulus Linney, will be performed by the students of the Egg Harbor Township High School Theatre Department on Dec. 5, 6 and 7 in the school’s Performing Arts Center.
A cherished tradition for audiences young and old, “A Christmas Carol” follows the journey of Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold-hearted miser whose life is transformed after a single extraordinary night. Guided by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, Scrooge confronts memories, discovers compassion and rediscovers the joy of generosity and connection.
Directed by Matthew Guenther, a German teacher at the high school, this year’s production blends classic storytelling with a warm, intimate atmosphere that captures the heart of the season. “What excites me about this show is that practically everyone knows it through one of its many forms. It’s been great getting to do big new things in bringing it to the stage,” said Guenther.
The cast features Jeffrey Taylor as Ebenezer Scrooge, supported by a dedicated ensemble and crew of nearly 100 students who bring Victorian London to life. Taylor says he is looking forward to the production.
“This story is iconic. Every single person involved has worked so hard to make it an amazing show. I’m looking forward to our audiences experiencing this story in a whole new way,” Taylor said.
Performances will be held on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at ehths.booktix.com. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
