Free event hosted by Atlantic Cape Sustainable Jersey Hub

The Atlantic Cape Sustainable Jersey Hub invites Green Teams, local artists, and community members to a free event, Strengthening Communities Through the Arts, on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Brigantine Community Center.

This engaging evening will explore how the arts can serve as a powerful tool for building stronger, more sustainable and connected communities. While sustainability efforts often focus on things like planting trees, conserving natural resources and reducing energy use, the Sustainable Jersey certification program also recognizes the vital role of arts and creative culture in community development.

Featured speakers Leslie and Mark Olson from Ridgefield Park (Bergen County) will share their experience launching Creative Bergen, a countywide arts initiative that has grown into a successful nonprofit. Their story underscores the impact of collaboration, especially for smaller communities.

A panel of local leaders from Atlantic City, Ventnor, Brigantine and Hamilton Township will discuss strategies they’ve used to implement arts initiatives in their towns. Attendees will also learn about valuable resources including:

  • Local cultural and heritage organizations
  • Regional arts alliances
  • Public art programs
  • Grant opportunities to support creative projects

This event is designed to help Green Teams and community members to expand their networks, engage new partners and leverage the arts as a catalyst for sustainability and community resilience.
