Legacy Concerts on the Beach in Somers Point will celebrate the roots of Southern rock and Americana on Friday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m., when Melody Trucks and Vaylor Trucks — daughter and son of Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks — take the stage.
The evening will feature music inspired by the Allman Brothers, Derek and the Dominos, The Band, Traffic, and Little Feat. They’ll be joined by standout keyboardist Ryan Gregg and the incredibly talented and popular young Fitzkee Brothers, all channeling the timeless energy of the genre.
Presented by Tony Mart — the legendary Jersey Shore nightclub once dubbed “an institution” by its founder, Tony “Mart” Marotta — the Legacy Concert Series has earned a reputation as the No. 1 outdoor concert venue in the United States. Each performance at the beachside amphitheater is steeped in musical heritage, and this show promises to be no exception.

Vaylor Trucks’ musical journey began early. At just 9 years old, he appeared on the cover of the Allman Brothers’ classic Brothers and Sisters album. Since then, he has earned acclaim as one of the great modern guitarists, performing alongside jazz icon Pat Martino, Dweezil Zappa (son of rock legend Frank Zappa), Colonel Bruce Hampton, and famed New Orleans drummer Johnny Vidacovich.

With that kind of pedigree, it’s no wonder that Vaylor Trucks is captivating audiences across the country. Expect more than two hours of roots-driven, soulful rock that channels the spirit of the South — all with your feet in the sand and the music in your soul.
