At approximately 12:25 p.m. on June 12, police officers responded to the public restrooms located at Sixth Street and the Boardwalk for the report of a recording device found inside one of the restrooms. Officers met with a subject who reported she found a hidden camera placed inside one of restrooms.
A subsequent search of all the public restrooms located on the Boardwalk was conducted. Several additional cameras were found in the public restrooms at both 10th Street and 11th Street. The incident is actively being investigated by the Ocean City Police Department’s Detective Bureau. At this time, police officers will remain in the area of the restrooms and additional checks will be conducted. If members of the public have any information regarding the investigation, they can contact the Detective Bureau at (609) 525-9131 and/or dlancaster@ocnj.us.
“I want to assure the public that our detectives will use every available resource to find the person who placed these cameras, and any suspect will be prosecuted to the fullest,” Mayor Jay Gillian said.
