Egg Harbor Township Police Communications received a call for a subject trapped inside a Recycled Asphalt Bin at AE stone (1435 Doughty Road). 26-year-old Cameron Briggs of Mays Landing was inside the bin when he fell backwards. A partial collapse of the asphalt occurred and landed on top of his lower extremities. He was trapped in a seated position with his legs straight out and asphalt just over his waist. Briggs remained conscious and alert but was unable to move due to the weight of the asphalt. He also remained at risk of the remaining several tons of asphalt further collapsing on top of him. Briggs was successfully extricated from the bin after approximately 2.5 hours. He was transported by EMS to the hospital for minor injuries and further evaluation. Responding agencies included The Egg Harbor Township Police, Farmington Volunteer Fire Department, Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Department, Cardiff Volunteer Fire Department, Atlantic City Fire Department including their Technical Rescue Team (TRT), Egg Harbor Township EMS, AtlantiCare Paramedics, Egg Harbor Township Public Works and the Atlantic County Office of Emergency Management.
