Where to Celebrate the Luck of the Irish this St Patrick’s Day

Going Places with Dina Guzzardo

St Patrick’s Day in the USA has become a national day of partying like the Irish. It is a day that most of us can honestly say they have celebrated before by wearing an outrageous green outfit and drinking copious amounts of Guinness, Jameson’s, or Baileys because whether you station yourself at your favorite Irish pub for the day, watch a parade, or join a pub crawl, the day is guaranteed to be memorable.

This year there are many events happening in our area starting with Atlantic City. The event to check out this year is the St. Paddy Pub Crawl and Ryfe Two Year Anniversary All Day Party. Doors open at 9am at Ryfe (4101 Atlantic Avenue) with giveaways, contests, drink discounts, $2 Mimosas, $3 Bloody Mary’s, and their annual Kegs and Eggs Breakfast. There will be door prizes for the first 40 guests at the door and free t-shirts, sunglasses, gift certificates, food, and drinks. The crawl itself commences at 11am, with both food and drink establishments participating. The crawl can be started at Ryfe or any of the other locations, including legendary Santucci’s in Ventnor (6413 Ventnor Avenue, Ventnor City); Vagabond (672 N Trenton Avenue), which was made famous on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives; and Wonder Bar (3701 Sunset Avenue), one of the most popular and acclaimed spots to enjoy an expertly crafted cocktail on the water in Atlantic City. There will be a complimentary shuttle service working in a loop of the crawl, starting at Ryfe at 12pm, then onto Santucci’s, Vagabond, and finally, Wonder Bar, returning to Ryfe thereafter. A special surprise giveaway to commemorate Ryfe’s 2 year “we-survived-the-pandemic” anniversary party will take place at 6pm, with VIP awards for Ryfe’s most devoted patrons, live music, and food specials. There is no official end time, and Ryfe has committed to staying open until the last person leaves! Tickets are only $15, and registration includes a complimentary welcome drink, complimentary drink cup, exclusive access to food and drink specials at each location, VIP access to seating and dinner reservations at the Ryfe Night Party, complimentary transportation to bars on the bar crawl, participation in giveaways, and entry to the Ryfe Anniversary celebration after-party. Further down the shore in North Wildwood, the annual St Patrick’s Day Celebration and Parade begin at 10am with a Catholic Mass service at St. Ann Church of Notre Dame La Mer Parish. The ceremony begins at 12 pm on the front steps of North Wildwood City Hall, 9th & Atlantic Avenue. Terri O’Connor, widow of Corporal James O’Connor who was tragically murdered in 2020 while on duty, will be honored as the Grand Marshal of the parade. The parade is a popular event in North Wildwood, often drawing several hundred spectators.

These are just some of the great events taking place over the St Patrick’s Day weekend, and the diverse range of activities allows for everyone to join in with festivities. So, start digging out your bright green t-shirts with those obnoxiously big four leaf clovers on them and get ready to start celebrating all things
