Step into Spring at WheatonArts: A New Season of Creativity Begins April 5

Celebrate the start of WheatonArts and Cultural Center’s creative season with the free kick-off event Wheaton Springs 2025 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 5! The Wheaton Springs 2025 event offers visitors of all ages the chance to explore, experience, create, and celebrate across WheatonArts’ 45-acre campus that inspires creativity. Admission to all exhibitions and artist studio demonstrations is free and open to the public, part of WheatonArts Family Days, presented by PNC Arts Alive!

 

Explore new exhibits in the Museum of American Glass and the Down Jersey Folklife Center. 

  • Transformations: The Wasserstein Collection of Contemporary Glass and redundancies curated by David Schnuckel in the Museum of American Glass, and Communities and Cultures of Down Jersey in the Down Jersey Folklife Center will be on display April through December.
  • Join us for a guided tour “Highlights of Our 2025 Special Exhibitions” in the Museum of American Glass. 
  • Explore the variety of stories, legends, beliefs, and practices of South Jersey residents during the Down Jersey Folklife Center Exhibition opening.

 

Experience a collection of artist demonstrations throughout the campus! 

  • Watch the Glass Studio team demonstrate techniques unique to their interests and specialties in hot glass.
  • Watch Senior Potter Terry Plasket decorate pots with wax and stencils and join Craft Studio Manager Phyllis Seidner-Vesely for a kiln tour.
  • Observe flameworkers Bill Futer and Jason Gordon create marbles and glass eggs.
  • Meet in the Paper Studio with paper artist Cherelle Oriolo to try out writing with glass pens.
  • Visit the Event Center to watch demonstrations by our visiting artists.

 

Create a series of hands-on projects for all ages and skill levels!

  • Join us for spring themed Family Arts Activities and create Paper Roll Birds, Crawling Caterpillars, and Twirling Lady Bugs.
  • Create a fused glass magnet, pendant, or suncatcher in the Education Studio using small pre-cut pieces of glass to be fired for you and ready to pick up or shipped for a fee a week later. 

 

Celebrate with food, shopping, and a walk around the Nature Trail!

  • Stop by the General Store for a food tasting! Try delicious dips, pickles, and fruit shrubs.
  • Grab a bite to eat from one of the food truck vendors on campus.
  • Watch Domenick Maggio in the Gallery of Fine Craft as he creates his gnomes!
  • Hunt for clues as you walk around WheatonArts with our Wheaton Springs Scavenger Hunt.
  • Walk the Nature Trail on campus and witness the first signs of spring at WheatonArts.

 

The Wheaton Springs opening season event is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025. WheatonArts is open April through December from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Special event hours may vary. Admission tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Closed Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
