The Ocean City Theatre Company is excited to conclude its 2025 Summer Season with “The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition.” This musical extravaganza is sure to delight audiences of all ages as it brings the beloved characters of Bikini Bottom to life on the stage of the Ocean City Music Pier. The performances are scheduled for Friday, August 22, and Saturday, August 23, at 7:30 PM.
“The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition” is an adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, inspired by the popular animated television series by Stephen Hillenberg. The talented young actors from OCTC’s Middle School Junior Company have been rehearsing diligently for this production, infusing the stage with their passion and energy. Creative Team members, James Craver (Director/Choreographer), Francesca Merlino (Choreographer/Assistant Director), and Erik Wagner (Music Director) have worked hard to create a creative, safe, and enjoyable rehearsal environment for the student performers to thrive.
The musical features a dynamic score by an award-winning team of songwriters, including Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At The Disco, and more. It transports the audience to the underwater world of SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends as they embark on a thrilling adventure to save their beloved town from impending doom. With humor, catchy tunes, and a heartfelt story, “The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition” is sure to leave audiences singing and dancing along.

The musical production was conceived by Tina Landau.
