Seashore Gardens Living Center has introduced a new yoga program in its pollinator garden, providing residents and staff with a serene environment for relaxation and connection. The grant-funded initiative offers separate weekly yoga sessions for residents and staff, inspired by Director of Rehabilitation Services Nicole Goodson’s passion for yoga.
Goodson collaborated with Kate Ribsom, owner of Yoga Bohemia in Long Beach Island, to bring the program to life. Certified instructor Christine Little leads the sessions, which include chair and wheelchair yoga for residents, focusing on improving flexibility, balance, and relaxation. Staff participate in traditional yoga classes, helping to alleviate stress and reduce caregiver fatigue.
“The therapy garden adds a layer of tranquility that enhances the overall experience,” Goodson said. “Yoga here isn’t just about physical benefits; it’s about creating a sense of community and mental well-being.”
Local businesses, including Simply Yoga and The Beaded Mermaid, have donated mats, blocks, and blankets for the program. During inclement weather, classes are held indoors.
