Tucked away among the scenic marshlands of Galloway, Oyster Creek Restaurant and Boat Bar is one of Atlantic County’s most beloved waterfront dining destinations. Known for its fresh seafood, picturesque views, and appearance on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” this local gem attracts visitors from across the region looking for an authentic Jersey Shore dining experience.
For years, locals have raved about Oyster Creek’s food, atmosphere, and waterfront setting. After hearing countless recommendations, I finally had the opportunity to see what all the buzz was about, and it did not disappoint.
Anastasia Baldai, who has been a server at Oyster Creek for more than five years, credits the restaurant’s commitment to quality and consistency for its lasting success.
“Everything is fresh and house-made, including our coleslaw and crab cakes, which don’t have any filler,” says Baldai. “It’s really special for us to be able to accommodate so many different types of people over the generations.”
Since opening its doors in 1938, Oyster Creek Restaurant and Boat Bar has become a staple of the Galloway dining scene, earning a reputation for fresh seafood, friendly service, and unforgettable views.
With so many tempting menu options, choosing where to start was a challenge. Naturally, we began with mocktails. Baldai enthusiastically listed several custom creations, and we settled on the Oyster Creek Blueberry Mojito Mocktail. Made with fresh lime, muddled blueberries, mint, and sparkling bubbles, it was the perfect refreshing drink to enjoy while overlooking the docks and peaceful waterways.
For an appetizer, we ordered the seared sea scallops, and they were exceptional. Perfectly cooked and tender, the scallops were paired with blue cheese, crispy bacon, and caramelized onions, creating a rich balance of flavors. Honestly, I could have ordered several more plates and called it dinner.
While Oyster Creek is known for its seafood, the restaurant also offers an impressive sushi menu. We sampled the Philly Roll, which was generously packed with fresh cucumber, creamy cream cheese, and salmon, all wrapped in perfectly prepared sushi rice. It was a delightful surprise and proof that the kitchen excels beyond traditional seafood dishes.
For my entrée, I chose the broiled flounder special. The generously sized fillet was expertly seasoned and served over rice with fresh vegetables. Light yet satisfying, it showcased exactly why Oyster Creek is known for serving some of the freshest seafood in Atlantic County.

My husband, Joe, went all in with the Filet Mignon Alexander. The tender filet was topped with a luxurious sauce featuring mushrooms and lump crab meat, creating a decadent surf-and-turf combination. Paired with a side of angel hair pasta, it was a hearty and memorable meal. The portions were generous, and the flavors were outstanding. Compliments to the chef are certainly deserved.
Even though we were completely full, skipping dessert simply wasn’t an option.
The homemade banana cream pie was smooth, creamy, and perfectly chilled, filled with generous slices of fresh banana. It tasted homemade in the best possible way and had me seriously considering taking an entire pie home.
We also shared a towering slice of chocolate chip cheesecake that was every bit as impressive as it looked. Rich, decadent, and topped with a cloud of whipped cream, it was a showstopper that could easily compete with any famous cheesecake destination.
If you’re searching for some of the best seafood in Galloway or a waterfront restaurant that truly captures the spirit of the Jersey Shore, Oyster Creek Restaurant and Boat Bar deserves a spot at the top of your list. With summer approaching, the restaurant is preparing for another busy season of serving fresh seafood, handcrafted drinks, and unforgettable waterfront views.
“I’m in the screened-in dining area six days a week from open to close,” says Baldai.
Open seven days a week during the summer for both lunch and dinner, Oyster Creek Restaurant and Boat Bar offers the kind of meal, and experience, that keeps guests coming back year after year.
